About Steven, By Steven

I was born in Morristown, New Jersey, in 1988, but I moved to Colorado at the age of six and have spent most of my life in the state. Since I can remember, I’ve loved running around - always had a lot of energy - and I also gravitated towards storytelling, both with and without numbers.

As you’re at the One Man Experiment website, you may have gathered that I write fiction! It’s been quite the journey - turns out there’s a bit of work involved in building up writing skills - but I’ve ultimately wound up in a place where I’m immensely proud of my style, and really enjoy the novels I’ve put together.

At present, my available titles are The Legend of Tucker Wilson and The Bubble Society (learn more by clicking the Steve’s Fiction link); while The Bubble Society is my second book, I would recommend reading it first. It’s a story that very much “came to me” - once I established the framework, it felt like the novel was writing itself through me, rather than the other way around - and I’m really pleased with the end product. If you enjoy my writing, you’ll probably dig The Legend of Tucker Wilson as well, and you’ll also get to see how I evolved as a writer while working on that project and where things were trending.

Beyond writing, I work as a Data Scientist, coding in Python programming language to analyze patterns, create data visualizations, and build machine learning models. I hold my B.A. in Economics and M.S. in Predictive Analytics from Northwestern University.

I’m also passionate about health and wellness; to keep my story brief, there was a time in my life where I didn’t take care of myself, didn’t take the time to understand how my “inputs” (food, movement, sleep) were affecting my “outputs”, and subsequently wound up immensely dissatisfied with my life.

It’s been a journey away from that, and I suppose whether I’ve been “successful” in that endeavor (or life in general) is in the eye of the beholder… but speaking as the person experiencing it, I feel I am operating with more calm, more confidence, and more kindness that I would have imagined a decade ago, and I would count that as a win.
